News Update – Jan 2026

TLDR version

As of January 2026, I am writing to share a sobering yet faith filled update on our work in Alotau, Papua New Guinea. While many believe the “false notion” that PNG is a fully Christian nation, the reality is a dire landscape of corruption and character voids. PNG remains near the bottom of the International Corruption Index, and we see a significant decline in individual self-control at the village level. This is evidenced by a “group think” mentality among young men, often involving substance abuse like “jungle juice” and betel nut chewing.

Our Current Situation

Following years of ministry and boatbuilding training, my wife Colleen and I returned to PNG in 2019. For nearly five years, we successfully operated the vessel Kwadima II, which served as our primary source of income and transport for Bible translators. However, our situation changed drastically in July 2024 when JAARS reclaimed the boat.

Currently:

  • We have no boat transport and have vacated our office as our funds are running out.
  • We have no regular financial support, though we trust God for a breakthrough.
  • I have been disappointed by the lack of response from various Christian foundations regarding grants, which I believe reflects a “spirit/soul battle” where decisions are made through “natural man” logic rather than the Spirit.

The Path Forward

Despite these challenges, I have a clear three-level vision for Living Water Ministry:

  1. Restoring Transport: I have identified a vessel named La Meridian in Queensland that would restore our ability to serve roadless villages and Bible translators.
  2. Financial Expansion: I am standing on the promise of Malachi 3:10 for provision that exceeds our immediate needs.
  3. Establishing a Base: I am seeking to acquire the SIL Regional Centre to use as a hub for training Papuan villagers as teachers and builders on the foundation of Christ.

We are not asking for money unless the Lord specifically prompts you to give. We simply ask that you stay in prayer with us as we wait on His direction and provision
